As Laxas Wine Cellars: Centuries of wine

The land in Arbo is timid and mysterious. It is in this dreamy, silent atmosphere that the As Laxas estate has been making wines since the close of the 19th century and, since then, it has incorporated the techniques and technologies inherent to each period. This was one of the first wine cellars to be awarded the “Rias Baixas” D.O., and now has two brand names of international prestige on the market: the “Laxas” and “Bágoa de Minho” Albariño wines – with a production of 450,000 and 27,000 bottles respectively, commercialized both in the national market and in Canada, United States, Mexico, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Japan, Germany, England, Switzerland, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, Philippines and Portugal.

Some 840.000 kilograms of grape are processed at this winery, 60% of which is our own produce. In five years, the aim is to select the 40% of the rest of the production from the better wine producer in the zone. Recently a our new wine, 'Val do seosego',  arrived at the market, completing a perfect Albariño's  scale.

The international Zarcillo bronze award in León, the grand special mention at the Concorso Enológico Internazionale in Verona, Italy, and the Baco de Plata from the Unión Española de Catadores, are the confirmation of years of work and care in production. Recently As Laxas was awarded with the bronze medal  at the Wine Masters Challenge 2005 of Portugal.
